Professor Yufeng Liu
Dr. Yufeng Liu is currently Full Professor in Department of Statistics and Operations Research, Dpartment of Biostatistics, and Department of Genetics at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his B.S. in Mathematical Statistics from Nankai University and Ph.D in statistics from The Ohio State University.
Prof. Liu has taught a wide range of mathematics and statistics courses at various levels, such as at pre-college, college, and graduate levels. He is passionate about education and is very interested in explaining concepts using different ways for effective teaching. Besides regular classroom teaching, he frequently delivers presentations and seminars at many conferences, workshops, and universities nationally and internationally.
Prof. Liu’s research interests include statistical machine learning, statistical analysis for big data, and cancer genomics. He performs both theoretical and applied statistical research and collaborates with a wide range of scientists. He supervises many Masters and Ph.D students at University of North Carolina. In terms of professional activities, Prof. Liu is currently the session chair elect for Session on Statistical Learning and Data Mining at The American Statistical Association and he also serves on editorial boards of several professional statistical journals.
