Description简介
This course is designed for beginner violinists with little or no prior experience. Students will start from the basics (how to hold a violin and fingerings) and progress to learn songs for a performance at the end of the semester. Aside from violin skills, students will also develop soft skills like their confidence and teamwork skills.

Curriculum 课程安排
We start from learning how to hold a violin and progress to learning songs like “Hot Cross Buns”, “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, Jingle Bells, etc. in the first semester. Then during the second semester, we learn to play duets, become exposed to different genres of music, and study a little bit of music reading.

Teacher Introduction 老师简介
Anna: Hello! I’m Anna Chen, an uprising senior and class of NCSSM 2020. I starting learning violin as a kid and am so happy to be apart of their learning experience!

Angela: I grew up in a small town in Wilson but recently moved to Durham in the past year. I currently attend UNC Chapel Hill and am a rising sophomore. I have been playing violin for over 10 years.

More about violins:
Students should bring a violin to the class. You can either rent or purchase one from a local or online music store. A typical beginner violin cost around $100. Renting is a good idea if you are just starting out. The size of the violin depends on your arm length.
